Starship Adventure@Your Library!
Summer Reading for Children
Registered at Marstons Mills
Grades K – 4 and Preschoolers
Come in to the Library and sign up for the Starship Adventure @ Your
Library Summer Reading Club
You will receive a Club Packet that will include these items:
- Night Sky picture
- Title Log
- Time Log
- Calendar
- Bookmark
- Fun Space Stickers
- Index Cards for peer recommendations
Your quest will be to decorate your night sky with as many colored
stars as you can--the more you read, the more starry your sky will be!
Write your name on your night sky and put it up in the Children’s
Room. Bring home the rest of your packet. Each time you read or are
read to for 15 minutes, color in one of the smiley faces on your time
log. When you have colored in 4 faces in a row, you have read for
1 hour.
- In addition, for every school suggested summer reading book (or librarian suggested for preschool-grade 1) you get to put a special star sticker on our collaborative library constellations!
Prizes:
- For Every Two Hours: You may pick a sticker or tattoo and enter your name into the age-appriopriate weekly prize drawings. (unlimited)
- At Six Hours: You may pick a small prize. (once)
- At Twelve Hours: You may pick a medium prize. (once)
- At Twenty-Four Hours: You may pick a special prize and receive a certificate. (once) You may also put your name in our Grand Prize drawing. (unlimited)
- For Every Three Peer Recommendations: You will receive a special prize. (unlimited)
Remember, you can read ANYTHING you like: books, magazines, comic
books--anything.
The title poster sheet is for you to keep a record of what titles
you read during the summer.
When you start school next year, you can bring your night sky, time
log and title log to school and show your new teacher how much you
read over the summer!

has been made possible by grants from the Andrew S. and Katherine
Y. Keck Fund of the Cape Cod Foundation, the Marion Jordan Charitable
Foundation and the Mid-Cape Cultural Council. Additional support comes from
the Friends of the Whelden Memorial Library. We appreciate their continued commitment to the youth in
our community very much.
