Wild Reads@Your Library!

Summer Reading for Children Registered at Marstons Mills/Whelden
Grades K – 4 and Preschoolers

Come in to the Library and sign up for the Wild Reads @ Your Library Summer Reading Club

You will receive a Club Packet that will include these items:

  • Cut out of a monster
  • Title Log
  • Time Log
  • Calendar
  • Bookmark

Your quest will be to decorate your monster with as many colored "warts" as you can--the more you read, the more colorful your monster will be!

Write your name on your monster and put it up in the Children’s Room. Bring home the rest of your packet. Each time you read or are read to for 15 minutes, color in one of the smiley faces on your time log. When you have colored in 4 faces in a row, you have read for 1 hour.

For every 2 hours of reading, you may come into the Library and put a "wart" sticker on your monster. After reading for 12 hours, come in to the Library and get a small prize. When you have colored in all the smileys and you have stuck 12 stickers on your monster, you will have read for 24 hours (1 WHOLE DAY!). Bring in your time log to receive another special prize and a certificate. At the end of the summer, all children who participated diligently but did not reach 12 hours will receive a pencil.

Remember, you can read ANYTHING you like: books, magazines, comic books--anything.

The title poster sheet is for you to keep a record of what titles you read during the summer.

When you start school next year, you can bring your monster, time log and title log to school and show your new teacher how much you read over the summer!

We appreciate their continued commitment to the youth in our community very much.

"Wild Reads@Your Library" is the state-wide Summer Reading theme sponsored by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the Massachusetts Regional Library Systems. We are grateful for the support materials and ideas they provide to us.
