It's time for Summer Reading Program! Find out what's going on at all the Barnstable village libraries

For your convenience, programs located at or sponsored by the Marstons Mills library include the events listed below. More will be added, so keep an eye on this page!

June

24 at 10 am - Collaborative kick-off party at the Osterville library (drop-in)

24 from 6:30- 9 pm - MMPL Summer Reading kick-off, with a family movie night at Liberty Hall. We will be showing "The Odd Life of Timothy Green." Popcorn and drinks are included. Parents will be able to sign children up for the Summer Reading Program at this time.

25 at 10:30 am - Baby Signs with Lindsay Osborn. Learn ten new signs per class plus take home material. Cost is $10 per child, and $5 per sibling (ages six months to 3 years). Older siblings can do a craft with Miss Lindsay (drop-in).

26 at 3:30 pm - Story hour with Miss Lindsey with craft (all ages, drop in)

27 at 2 pm - Second installment of Baby Signs (see June 25).

28 at 11 am - Worm races. Race real live worms for prizes and bragging rights! (all ages, drop in)

July

3 at 3:30 pm - Story hour with Miss Lindsey, with craft (all ages, drop in)

8 at 3 pm - Rocks and minerals mosaics: using upclose pictures of different minerals, create a beautiful paper mosaic (drop in, ages 6 and up)

10 at 3:30 pm - Story hour with Miss Lindsey, with craft (all ages, drop in)

11 at 11 am - Magic treasure rocks: with a little magic and science, find the hidden treasure within the rocks! (all ages, drop in)

13 from 10 to noon - Star Wars symposium at the Cotuit Library

During the week of July 15 - Digging tables (Sensory tables) (Monday 11-3; Tuesday 3-8; Wednesday 11-3; Friday 12-4) PLEASE wear clothes that can get wet and/or dirty.

24 at 3:30 pm - Story hour with Miss Lindsey, with craft (all ages, drop in)

25 from 11 to noon - Miss Lenore brings craft from Cotuit Library

26 at 10:30 am - Sugar cube pyramids

29 at 11 am - Create your own dinosaur with a real dinosaur plant

31 at 3:30 pm - Story hour with Miss Lindsey, with craft (all ages, drop in)

August

2 at 3 pm - Andy Warhol dinosaurs

7 at 2 pm - Miss Megan is bringing a craft from Sturgis Library

8 at 10 am - Make grass homes for woodland sprites!

12 at 2 pm - Barn babies (1/2 hour sessions). Must sign up

14 at 3:30 pm - Story hour with Miss Lindsey, with craft (all ages, drop in)

15 from 6-8 pm - Collaborative Wrap-up Pa-jam-a party with "The Elbows" in Barnstable Village

16 from 1-3 pm - MMPL Summer Reading wrap-up party

Monthly Craft

Whenever you come to the Library, there will be a craft for you to do!

Weekly Programs

***All programs begin in October and end in March, with the exception of Story Time***

Homeschool Club (No meeting during public school vacations).

Enjoy lessons on various subjects, activities and handouts/take-home projects (Sign-up required)

Ages 5-7: Next year's dates to be determined

Ages 8-11: Next year's dates to be determined

Tuesday Night Clubs with Lindsey Hughes
4:30-5:30 p.m. Sign up in the Children's Room.

Mother-Daughter Book Club: Every month the group will pick a book to read for the following month. Each meeting we will discuss the book and do a craft related to the book. ***November book club will read Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang by Ian Fleming. (Ages 6+; sign-up strongly recommended)
