Marstons Mills Public Library Header

Inch by inch, continued

The next steps in the renovation have been taken: three new windows have been installed (a lovely, large one in the lower level in what will be the Youth Services Librarian's office). You might notice that the windows don't match in the Children's Room, but that's because there's going to be a gas fireplace installed and the second window will be removed. It's a bit early in the year to think about cosying up to a fire, but file it away for the future. Be sure to pop in to see the display of renovation plans...

A plea for neighborliness

We know our dumpster and recycling bin are tempting, but we ask that you please refrain from dumping your garbage in either of them. These are not public repositories; the Library has to pay for them. Recently, we have had to deal with large items like a discarded ping-pong table being left beside the dumpster. We had to ask our good friend, Al Baker, to cut it up in order to get rid of it. Please be good neighbors and take your garbage to the transfer station yourself.

This and that...

TEACHERS! We still have the Teacher's Pet section of our site. Please take a look at what we have to offer, and definitely feel free to email us your suggestions for improving the pages.

WISH LIST:

  • VOLUNTEERS! Upcoming volunteer opportunities include:
    • Library Garden: We need volunteers to water and weed the garden during the spring and summer. Watering takes about 20 minutes, 3 or 4 times a week depending on the weather. Weeding is needed about once a week. Sign up for two week or one month shifts.
    • Shelvers: Volunteers are needed to help shelve books and assist with other circulation tasks on Monday afternoons between 1 and 3 p.m.. Training will be provided.

Call us or drop by if you're interested!

  • New books! Need a present for the person who has everything? Want to celebrate a friend or honor a late relative? Consider a donation for a new book for the Library. The name of the person(s) you are honoring will be written with your name on a book plate and placed in a new book. It's an easy way to make someone feel special or hold another's memory dear while helping us out here at MMPL!

THANKS:

  • Annual Appeal: We reached over 98% of our target for the 2007/08 Annual Appeal. THANK YOU!
  • Volunteers: We have a large crew of volunteers right now, busy shelving and organizing our files. We'd be lost without you...
